Cognizant is a global leader in information technology, with more than 330,000 employees worldwide. In 2020, one of Cognizant’s clients, a premium biopharmaceutical company, requested Cognizant employees who could provide pharmacovigilance services in languages other than English. The Cognizant life sciences business unit decided to train 12 current members of staff in India with Learnship Elevate.
Starting at a beginner CEF-level A1, 12 members of the Cognizant Life Science business unit participated in an intensive language course that enabled all of them to achieve CEF-level B2 (upper intermediate) within a record time of 18 months.
Cognizant’s client and management team were impressed by the personal commitment, passion for learning, and outstanding resiliency associates have shown.
We’re thrilled to hear from the team that they are now able to read the non-English source documents with minimal usage of translation tools and are confident to carry out production by applying the learning from the program.

Bronze Award for Best Use of Blended Learning
Salesforce is a pioneer in the field of cloud technology and is the creator of the world’s leading customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
In 2020, Salesforce’s Learning & Development team introduced CommPetent, a communication excellence program designed to enhance communication competence and enable effective collaboration across geographies. Due to its excellent results, the program was extended to 2021.
CommPetent is a personalized blending learning program consisting of two main components: Learnship Solo, a self-paced e-learning program, and Solo Conversation Practice, a virtual course with a language trainer, focusing on each learner’s challenges and needs, and the main goal for learners was to improve by at least one language level, compared to their starting level, within six months.
The CommPetent program was a complete success: 61% of learners progressed by one level or more within the six-month period, and their test results were excellent. Learners report high levels of satisfaction with the program, as their improved language skills allow them to interact with confidence. Their line managers, closely involved throughout the program, are also pleased with the results.
